NEW DELHI: As Mohammed Shami claimed a fifer against Sri Lanka to become India’s most successful bowler ever at the ODI World Cup, the pacer’s ball on head gesture towards the dressing room after claiming his fifth wicket went viral on social media.
Shami-led pacers wreaked havoc as India registered their seventh win on the trot to qualify for the semis.
The 33-year-old pacer led from the front, registering his best ever ODI bowling figures of 5 for 18, helping India fold the Islanders for a lowly 55 in chase of 358.Amid the Shami storm that hit the Wankhede, his unique celebration and gesture with ball on head also hogged the limelight.
Teammate Shubman Gill after the match revealed that the Shami’s gesture was for bowling coach Paras Mhambrey as he doesn’t have any hair on his head.
Team India went on to register a mammoth 302-run victory in their seventh match of the World Cup.
